WebEmotional abuse includes: humiliating or constantly criticising a child. threatening, shouting at a child or calling them names. making the child the subject of jokes, or using sarcasm to hurt a child. blaming and scapegoating. making a child perform degrading acts. not recognising a child's own individuality or trying to control their lives. WebMore work is required to support people who hoard and neglect themselves. A recent review of the self-neglect category within the Care Act (2014) by the Department of Health has recommended that self-neglect cases should be considered on a case-by-case basis, therefore this adds to the dilemma of knowing how and when to intervene.
