WebJun 16, 2007 · Jack, your sort of right. 1) There were no steel shell Powertone snare drums ever, they are all COB (Chrome Over Brass). 2) The Holiday was Rogers premier snare drum until the Dynasonic in 1961. 3) The Holiday had very wide flat bearing edges with deep snare beds that worked well with calf skin heads. WebApr 12, 2015 · They are very crisp and are high pitched. They put the word "snares" in a snare drum. Powertones come with 20 strand wires. Tower snares have 16. Most don't have the original wires anyway though. I have my 5" wood Powertone set up next to a 5.5" solid wood Maple DW snare, with 10 lugs.
