WebThe SD Slot doesn't fail, but the recommendation to NOT be booted from the SD Card is because on iLO 4 based machines, the internal SD Card slot is owned / mounted through, the iLO. So when you bounce the iLO, you effectively remove the SD Controller temporarily. I know this was changed on Gen10/iLO 5 so the SD is no longer attached to iLO. When you choose to format the NAND, you are formating a part of the NAND media that is used by iLO to write internal logs etc. You can still use the MicroSD port to install a MicroSD card and install ESXi there.
